Weddings

Congratulations! We are delighted you are considering being married at St Augustine’s Dumbarton.

Our Church is an ‘A’ listed ‘Gothic Revival’ style building extensively restored in 2003, considered by many a hidden gem in the High Street.

Here, in 1900, Charles Rennie Mackintosh married Margaret Macdonald.

The Church features beautiful stained-glass windows, high ceilings, and red sandstone carvings and altar, and can comfortably accommodate 100+ people!

The first thing to do if you wish to plan your wedding at St Augustine’s is to contact the Rector, who will guide you through the process of planning your wedding day. Weddings in the Scottish Episcopal Church tend not to be just done off the peg but are tailored to the couple who are getting married.

People sometimes ask whether they can get married in church if they have been married before.  The short answer in most cases is yes, although the consent of the bishop is required. The Rector will be very happy to speak to you about this.

It is important to note that no-one can get married in Scotland without first dealing with the local Registrar.

Please note that Rev’d Heller will expect to meet the couple at least three times before the wedding ceremony.

Couples wishing to receive a blessing, or to celebrate a special anniversary or long length marriage are always welcome.
