Pastoral Care Course

Below, click for some information about sessions of the Diocesan Pastoral Care Course, being run in May at St Augustine’s Dumbarton.

Anyone can attend  one or all of these sessions, however those wishing to become authorised diocesan Pastoral Workers will need to have, at some time, attended all five sessions.
All are welcome – but please let us know when you intend to come beforehand.

And a New Bishop!

This rather glamorous photo is one of many to be found on Gordon Smith’s Flicker Site!

New Computer

After the theft of our Parish Laptop last week, a Facebook friend of the Rector has donated a new PC to St Augustine’s. I can’t quite believe the generosity, and this is one in the eye for those who are critical of “electronic friends”.

Thank you Roddy Neilson. You are a superstar!

Prayer for Election Time

Heavenly Father

source of all truth and wisdom, who knows and loves the whole creation,

watch over our nation at election time:

that truth may prevail over distortion,

wisdom triumph over recklessness

and the concerns of every person be heard.

Lord Jesus,

who chose the way of the cross in the Garden of Gethsemane,

help us to turn our backs on self interest

and to support policies that sustain the poor, the vulnerable and the frightened people of this world.

Holy Spirit,

who brought understanding among myriad peoples and languages at Pentecost,

give to all your people a passion for peace

and inspire us to work for unity and co-operation throughout the world and in our political life together.

Amen.

Easter Day

Quite a day in Auggieland! I quote from a Facebook post…

Didn’t get the time to say it then but yesterday morning’s Easter Service was excellent. What could probably best be described as joyful chaos :-) Baptisms, expanded music group with teenagers joining us, Birthday Sunday, creme eggs, brilliant homily from the Rector and a very pretty Easter garden. Then sandwiches and …cake in the hall to celebrate. What more could you ask for?

Well, how about the wine, and the Easter Prize Draw, (we now know what Betty Gordon is wearing to bed), The Piscy Club Draw, and memories of Saturday evening when Faye McKinlay was baptized at the Easter Ceremonies?

All in all, leading to an extremely tired Rector!
