Papal Theme Park Planned

A warning from an English priest of International Renown:

Often dubbed the world’s most beautiful city, Rome’s cobbled piazzas, baroque churches and abundance of ancient archaeological sites have long drawn tourists from around the globe.

But according to the new deputy mayor, what the Eternal City really needs to keep visitors coming is not museums, but fun rides. “The model is EuroDisney in Paris,” said Mauro Cutrufo, as he announced plans for a 500-hectare (1,250-acre) theme park in Rome, which could be ready in three years, he said
“Children could meet Mickey Pope and ride on the Papal roller-coaster. There’d be a bouncy Vatican and candy cardinals to eat” he said.
A Holy Water slide is planned along with a terror ride which plunges Anglicans into Hell.
“We want the whole family to know what awaits them if they don’t obey Church Teaching”, said Mayor Cutrufo, as he surveyed the Inquisition Horror ride.

Reminder

Tonight, Friday, we have the two lads from The Ukraine performing in St Aug’s. Your attendance, with your pals, is mandatory!

Friends

The Friends Exec met last night and it seems like a Night with the Stars is going to be a cracker! Don’t miss it! Other events are planned. Just keep your eyes peeled in the Events Section of the Site! The Big Christmas Party sounds something worth coming to!

Too Much Info!

A look through Fr David Heron’s Blog, on my day off, kept me entertained for ages! This little snippet had me in tears!:

A Canon of this Diocese sent an email to all of us saying they’d had a hysterectomy, lost a few stones, caught a bug and was now on Hormone Replacement Therapy.
Who the dickens wants to know that? Surely that’s just too private and personal.
In my day, I knew of no clergy who were on HRT.
That’s ‘cos we were all men!

Wonderful Weekend

We’ve had a really good weekend with sister Mary up from Wales! Only problem is that the rain has bucketed down most of the time. A true Scottish summer!

Refusing to be “down” about the lack of congregation these days. Numbers aren’t what they should be, and any clergyperson will tell you that the first question is, “Is it something to do with me?” I’m trying hard to resist the answer being “Yes, it has everything to do with you!” Folk are missing, often for a good reason, and maybe it’s wake-up time. Perhaps now we are beginning to see the results of so many deaths, and face it, an ageing congregation. Perhaps, too, some are not as committed as they once were. The “core” congregation is certainly smaller than when I arrived seven years ago. Maybe it’s time to add to the core?

More Presents

The SA decided that the dead rabbit wasn’t enough today. Shortly after the RW’s sister’s arrival, he brought her in a lovely little mouse as a gift! Pandemonium ensued as the SA and the puppy crashed through the three downstairs rooms playing at “trying” to catch the little rodent! After moving dishwashers out, sideboards, etc etc, the heel of my shoe finished the game.

Marvellous entertainment for our visitor!
