Christmas Services at St Augustine’s

Details of all the Christmas services and activities here at the church are listed below:

Sunday 20th December – 4 pm Punch, Pies and Popular Carols. Pies of all description and a bit of punch will be available followed by a Carol Service. The service will start around 5.30 pm and will include the Sunday School Nativity Scene.

Thursday 24th December – 11 pm. Midnight Eucharist of the Nativity.

Christmas Day – 10.30 am. Joint Christmas Day service with St Mungo’s in St Augustine’s church.

The annual Christmas Day dinner will be starting around 1 pm (depending on when the food is ready) and there will probably be a drop in for those who feel like some company on Boxing Day.

Sunday 27th December – normal Eucharist services at 9 am and 11 am.

We are on Dumbarton High St, across the road from The Clipper and welcome anyone who wants to join us at any of these services.

HOST

The Charity, HOST, is seeking friendly people who could volunteer to offer an invitation to adult international students for a day, weekend,
or four days at Christmas.

Learn about other cultures, welcome a guest far from home, and make the world a little friendlier!

To be put in touch with your local organiser, visit www.hostuk.org or call 020 7739 6292.

Remembrance Sunday

Please note that the Remembrance Day service will start at 10.50 am – this Sunday, 8th November.

Food For Thought

If anyone is considering making a donation to Food For Thought (church referral only foodbank) this week we are desperately short of cereal, UHT milk and sugar. Anything that can be stored will be gratefully received, however.

Thank You

The committee of Food For Thought would like to thank the congregations of Old Kilpatrick Bowling, Old Kilpatrick, St Andrew’s, Bellsmyre and our own congregation at St Augustine’s for all the generous donations of good from Harvest Festivals. All the donations will go to help individuals and families in need in the West Dunbartonshire area.

Remembrance Service

There will be a service in St Augustine’s Church to remember and celebrate the life of David Dyer on Saturday 10th October at 11 am.

All welcome.

Gift Day

Sunday 4th October is Gift Day and Harvest at both St Augustine’s and St Mungo’s. This is our opportunity to say “Thank You, Jesus” by putting some money in an envelope as a thank offering.

The Children of Palestine – A Remembrance

West Dunbartonshire Palestine Solidarity Campaign and St Augustine’s Church are holding a service acknowledging the 1st anniversary of the 51 day war on Gaza. We would like to invite friends from all faiths and none to join us in remembering all those who died during this time. We wish to demonstrate through the service, thoughts and prayers our hopes for the people of Palestine who live in poverty and fear each and every day.

The service will last approximately 1 hour and there will be tea and coffee served following the service.
